Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Barton College is currently seeking a Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach with our Intercollegiate Athletics department in Wilson, NC. Under the supervision of the Women’s Basketball Coach, the Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach helps direct and provide leadership for the women’s basketball program operating under NCAA Division II and conference operating bylaws and regulations.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the coordination of the overall operation and management of the college’s intercollegiate athletics women’s basketball program, including but not limited to recruitment on and off campus and retention of qualified student-athletes, individual and team preparation, practice and game organization, and coaching, scheduling, and alumni and community relations.
  • Assist in fundraising, academics, travel, and provide opportunities that challenge and support student-athletes to reach their full potential.
  • Support student-athlete academic and athletic excellence, leadership development, and community engagement.
  • Assist in team development, including establishing goals, objectives, and values for the program consistent with the mission of the Athletics Department.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures of the department and the College, the rules and regulations of the NCAA and Conference Carolinas, and any other authorities that affect the intercollegiate athletics program.
  • Supporting the mission and vision of Barton College and the Athletics Department; helping develop and implement a marketing strategy to enhance the brand and tell the stories of Barton Athletics.
  • A secondary duty within the Department of Athletics will be assigned.

 

Desired Education, Skills, & Experience

  • Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Excellent communication and computer skills are required.
  • Proven ability to relate to high school and college-aged student-athletes.
  • Must pass the NCAA-required coaches training, have, or obtain AED/CPR certification, and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Preferred Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • College coaching experience and/or competitive playing experience at a NCAA Division I or II institution strongly preferred.
