WILSON, N.C. — September 16, 2024 — Bridgestone Americas, Inc. Wilson Plant recently partnered with Barton College senior mass communications majors Colton Wilson, Conor Stanley, Kayla Cephus, and Caleb Walls to create a company safety video for Bridgestone guests to view prior to touring the Wilson Plant facility. This student-led project, begun in February and completed in June, was part of a spring 2024 Advanced Video class, for which the students earned academic credit. Barton’s student team was responsible for developing Bridgestone’s storyboard and writing the script, as well as recording and performing in the video.

Supervising the student project was assistant professor of communications Miguel Elizalde, with assistance by theatre technical director Michael Dornemann.  Working with the Barton student team were Bridgestone Americas’ Wilson Plant Health & Safety Manager John Greely and Senior Health & Safety Specialist Trevor Dawson, as well as Plant Controller Bruce Dechaine and Culture & Engagement Manager Ashely L. Newman.

Bridgestone Americas’ Wilson Plant employees presented a check for $5,949.00 to Barton College to support the purchase of new equipment for the Mass Communications Program.
