Assistant Softball Coach – FT

Barton College has an immediate opening for a full-time Assistant Softball Coach. Under general supervision, the Assistant Softball Coach will assist the Head Softball Coach with coaching and developing a nationally competitive Division II Softball program.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Player development including on-field coaching at practices and games, and player film breakdown. 
  • Monitoring student-athlete academic progress.
  • Opponent scouting reports.
  • Recruiting student-athletes effectively under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Facility management and field maintenance.
  • Assist with organization and coordination of prospect camps.
  • Assist with team travel. 
  • Assist in fundraising efforts. 
  • Equipment distribution and inventory.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned. 
  • A secondary duty within the athletic department will also be assigned during the non-championship/fall season. 

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience either playing at the college level or coaching hitters, infield or outfield at the college level for a minimum of one (1) year.
  • Strong recruiting, teaching and coaching skills.
  • Strong communication and motivation skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • An ability to build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, staff and alumni.
  • Ability to support the equity and diversity commitments of the athletic department and College.
  • Cooperation professionally and collegiality with the media, the community, the College and the Athletic Department staff and administration.
  • Demonstration of leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student-athletes.
