Weather Advisory 2 – Thursday evening, September 26, 2024

Barton College continues to closely monitor Hurricane Helene as landfall is expected in Florida this evening.
At this time, Barton College is continuing to follow a normal operating schedule. Should weather conditions precipi
The worst of the storm is expected to impact the western half of the state, and in particular, the higher terrain. Central North Carolina will experience some periods of heavy rain and windy conditions, along with the possibility of isolated tornadoes, as early as Thursday night and most likely through Friday morning.
Wilson County is not currently under a weather alert, but we encourage everyone to use good judgment and caution if you are traveling tomorrow, especially in central and western North Carolina. We also encourage you to keep a watchful eye on roads in Wilson and surrounding communities where there may be localized flooding depending on tomorrow’s rainfall.

The national weather service currently notes that the worst of the storm impact will most likely occur across the western half of the state, and in particular, the higher terrain. It is anticipated that central North Carolina will experience periods of heavy rain and windy conditions, along with the possibility of isolated tornadoes, at early as Thursday night and most likely through Friday.
Please use good judgment and caution if you are traveling in central and western North Carolina later this week.
