SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES
Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre
Officially named The Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre, Barton's black box theatre will provide the campus community with a premier teaching facility as well as an excellent venue with the flexibility to accommodate theatre, dance, and opera performances; symphony concerts; and lectures.Because of its extremely versatile design, the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre is a blank canvas. Staging and seating can be adapted to fit any particular production, which allows for a very intimate style of performance and greater engagement by the audience.
The Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre will also be a tremendous recruitment tool for
attracting serious theatre students to Barton. Non-theatre majors who enjoy the excitement of the stage will also benefit from the experience of working in a black box theatre. And, while the daily use of the
theatre will be primarily for performance and technical theatre classes, the potential opportunities for the space are endless.

Bulldog Club/Hall of Fame Room
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of varsity sports on campus, we have embarked on a plan to renovate the Bulldog Club/Hall of Fame Room and create an interactive digital Hall of Fame display that will showcase the greatest coaches and athletes ever to wear the Blue and White. Once completed, the renovated Bulldog Club/Hall of Fame Room will be an enormous source of pride for the College and a fitting tribute to our esteemed Hall of Fame recipients.
Tennis Resurfacing
Although the Barton Tennis Complex continues to be one of the finest tennis facilities in the region, continued use and the exposure to the elements have begun to take a toll. The College is beginning an initiative to battle some of the effects of time and make some necessary upgrades to the complex. Our goal is to raise $50,000 in order to resurface the twelve courts, correct some drainage problems around the complex, and complete necessary upgrades at the tennis facility.Egg Boat
Prior to his death, internationally renowned sculptor and Barton alumnus Horace Farlowe released a limited-edition sculpture in support of the arts at Barton. The piece, an 11.75 x 3.75 x 3.75 solid bronze egg boat, is limited to 100 castings. No other castings will ever be made.
Each signed and numbered piece is offered for $1,500. All proceeds will go to the Horace Farlowe Sculpture Endowment at Barton, which will sustain the teaching of sculpture for future generations.
Mr. Farlowe's works are on view at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro; the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh; the Scottish Arts Council, Aberdeen, Scotland; and the Complex Esportiu Municipal, Barcelona, Spain among others.
